26R S2 Rear Hubshaft & Drive Train Notes

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]1 ) fit 1st radius tapered spacer to hubshaft

2 ) press bearing on to hubshaft

3 ) warm up mag casting to swell approx 125 degrees c ( spit on it and it should boil your spit ! )

4 ) slide centre bearing spacer into mag casting ready to accept shaft

5 ) hub and 1st bearing will now slide on . Use of a press keeps everything in line but do not use more than 200 kg max force
The heat keeps it easy to fit .

6 ) warm up housing , fit 2nd bearing , again a press and selection of spacers /tubes/old bearings to use as tools helps . Max 200 kg pressure gently is the answer !

7 ) fit taper spacer

8 ) fit disc

9 ) fit splined peg yoke , you may need to fettle for smooth fit

10 ) tap roll pin into bore in splined yoke , turn down m16 cap bolt to almost remove hex . Weld to special location washer . Fit to splined u/j yoke , use a high speed grinder to fettle & chamfer down edges to clear u/j .

11 ) bolt up assembly , 115 pounds foot torque

12 ) bolt on caliper , check offset and measure disc error to centre of caliper . Note gap each side , skim or make thicker disc spacer to centralise . This must be surface ground by a good machne shop .

Note left hand side = left hand ( odd ) thread
Never remove or fit bearings to alloy or mag cold . Always heat so bearing does not damage the casting
13 ) fit revised shim

14 ) bolt and lockwire caliper

15 ) ensure driveshaft splines are well greased with moly grease .

16 ) fit universal joints , grease well , keep inner u/j yokes in line or car will vibrate .

17 ) re torque main m16 bolt/nut to 115 pounds foot before test and again after 1 lap .

Dissassembly

Basically the reverse but remember warm mag to remove the bearings and be gentle !

Always fit a steel washer or shim between the mag upright and the wishbone bush or spherical bearing.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2959″ img_size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
